The Brotherhood of Luxor

The Brotherhood of Luxor

In western esotericism all secret knowledge seems to have its roots in Egypt. All great sages had to visit Egypt: Pythagoras went to Egypt; Plato’s teacher Solon went to Egypt; even Christianity felt obliged to send Jesus to Egypt as part of its mythos. So, it is no surprise that Egypt plays a role in the founding days of the Theosophical Society. This influence took the form of the Brotherhood of Luxor. What do we know of the mysterious brotherhood that inspired Blavatsky, as well as modern Rosicrucian movements? In this talk we will examine the players in the shadows of the Brotherhood of Luxor: Masters, chelas, and aspirants.
