Mathematics and the Spirituality of Truth: From Pythagoras to Ramanujan
It is said that every prime number was a personal friend of the great Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan. Indeed, he himself once commented that “an equation has no meaning for me unless it expresses a thought of God.” Helena P. Blavatsky taught that for Pythagoras, mathematics was the same as Gnosis and provided the key to the higher mind. For the ancients, mathematics was considered to be esoteric, occult knowledge.
In this presentation we will look at how the spiritual, occult view of mathematics can be reconciled with the often dry subject taught in schools and explore how spirituality in mathematics can be experienced.
