Death and Resurrection in Theosophy and Esoteric Christianity II

Death and Resurrection in Theosophy and Esoteric Christianity II

The second lecture will expand on the emergence of esoteric Christianity in direct connection with Theosophy and how the key to the interpretation of Christianity was soon formulated in a language of initiation. In short, true Christianity was perceived as a mystery religion focused on initiation, self-development, learning, ethics, and in the end transcending death through the gradual, initiatory expansion of consciousness. This opened a path, which everyone could potentially follow, leading to an evolution beyond the human cycle of death and rebirth. This second lecture will show how Christ on the Cross and the Resurrected Christ became the prime symbols of this initiatory process of transcending death to a higher form of life.
